About the Brain

All about addiction and the brain

It is becoming well known in the scientific community that addiction involves all aspects of our humanness, not just a personality issue as once thought. When looking at any form of addiction, from alcohol to drugs, the issues are complex. It has been found that addictions are not just psychological in nature, but generally have basic physical underpinnings that drive what appears to be a psychological addiction cycle.

Over time, toxic substances from the addictions or environmental effects, affect both the body organ function as well as the brain's basic ability to process information correctly. This can lead to clouded judgment and mental decline or loss of cognitive function. The effect of toxic substances on the body and brain, if unaddressed, often is the root cause of the addiction cycle. This in turn contributes to the lack of will power and compliance towards a true recovery program. If left untreated, these factors can make us feel that the very depth of our soul is imprisoned, thus altering our every expression (what others see and hear) and denying us a rich, fulfilling life.

Recovery Advocates works with the top names in addiction recovery

Recovery Advocates has teamed up with some of the world's leaders in the fields of addiction recovery, functional medicine and neuron-cognitive rehabilitation. Our primary goal is to provide you a "True" recovery program, based on the latest scientific discoveries and applied medicine techniques. We achieve this by locating the shackles of the addictive cycle then providing a means to help unlock them and gain freedom from this inner imprisonment.

Everyone has untapped potential. No one can be defined solely by a "label." The approach to treatment at Recovery Advocates is from a different point of view. We look at the whole personality and ask the question, "Where is this person on the neuro developmental spectrum?" The question is answered through a comprehensive evaluation that identifies the underlying cause of the dysfunction. We first determine where the dysfunction is occurring and then look for reasons why this is occurring. Based on these objective measurements, an individualized program is designed to correct the imbalance without the use of medications.

A world class addiction treatment program

At Recovery Advocates we provide world class treatment programming, focusing on an integrative approach to recovery. At the heart of the recovery program is an Integrative Neuro-Cognitive Brain Lab, in which we use the "Neurogenosis" to assess one's neuron-cognitive abilities by measuring what the brain is doing during functional tasks.
