What is sober living?
Sober living homes offer individuals who are in the process of recovery a safe place to live as they prepare to transition back into the flow of the "real world." In sober living facilities, people are given an opportunity to live side-by-side with other individuals who are going through similar circumstances.
A good sober living home will help the residents rebuild self-confidence, get invaluable life-skills training while offering an opportunity to learn or relearn the joy of living without drugs or alcohol. Transitional living provides structure that genuinely helps enhance the recovery process.
Recovery Advocates presents The Lake House for Sober Transitional Living
The Lake House is a Sober Living home nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. This strikingly beautiful property is situated on Sherwood Lake and offers a lodge-like atmosphere one would expect to find in the Adirondacks. A safe, sober and serene setting is perfectly complemented by fishing, boating, and biking.
The Sherwood Lake area has a vivid history. Originally known as Lake Canterbury, the 165-acre lake got a name change after the area was used in the filming of "Robin Hood" -- starring Douglas Fairbanks -- in 1921, and people began calling it Sherwood Forest and Maid Marian Park.
The Lake House offers a highly structured program emphasizing life skills training, sober living, and 12 Step recovery. An intensive wrap-around program of medical supervision, psychotherapy, neuro-cognitive rehabilitation and substance abuse counseling and support is available to all residents through Recovery Advocates. Testimonial
I came to the Lakehouse hopeless and suicidal after stuggling to get sober for a year. On my first day, one of the house managers sat with me on my bed and said, “it’s going to be OK. I’m never going to let go of your hand.” That was my introduction to supportive and compassionate sober living af the Lakehouse. The love and trust I have received from house managers has given me back hope and faith and allowed me to begin life over as a strong and resilient person confident that I can remain sober on a daily basis. I owe my life to the Lakehouse and firmly believe that my stay here was the best decision I have ever made.
